The Pittsburgh Penguins are Stanley Cup champions for the second straight season. Patric Hornqvist scored with 1:35 left in the 3rd period and the Pens beat the Predators, 2-0, in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final in Nashville.  Carl Hagelin added an empty-net goal in the closing seconds for Pittsburgh, which is the first repeat champion since the Detroit Red Wings in 1997-98. Matt Murray stopped all 27 shots he faced in the victory. Pekka Rinne made 27 saves for the Preds in defeat.   Penguins captain Sidney Crosby was named the Most Valuable Player of the Stanley Cup playoffs.  

Crosby was presented with the Conn Smythe Trophy for the second straight year. The 29-year-old Crosby had 8 goals and 19 assists in 25 games this postseason.
