The $40-million quarterback

posted by Bruce Hooley -

Kirk Cousins signed his franchise tender with Washington, so he can be traded. He's going to get $24 million this year, and would get $28 million next year if the Redskins or another team franchised him again, should Cousins fail to sign a long-term contract.

The Browns have cap space and lots of draft picks. But what would it take to pry Cousins out of Washington and hold him hostage in Cleveland?

Uh, a lot of picks and $40 million -- the $24 million they'd owe Cousins and the $16 million they invested in Brock Osweiler to get a second-round pick from Houston that Cleveland could then trade to Washington.
