Justin Fields Announces He's a Buckeye

Georgia quarterback Justin Fields announced via his Twitter account that he will be leaving the Bulldogs to join the Buckeyes.

Fields went 27-for-39 passing in his freshman season, accounting for 328 yards and four touchdowns as a backup for sophomore signal caller Jake Fromm. He had an additional four touchdowns rushing, and totaled 266 yards running.

He was named a member of the 2018 Coaches Freshman All-SEC Team.

Fields played his high school ball in Kennesaw, Georgia. On signing day, 247sports.com had him ranked as their top quarterback and second overall prospect. Other recruiting services gave him even higher marks. He was number one in the ESPN 300.

Fields would have to apply for and receive a hardship waiver to be eligible to play in 2019, and ESPN reports that is Fields' plan.
